Construction Safety Officer

Position Summary

The Construction Safety Officer – Ventana Special Projects will work under the direction of the HSE Manager to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program across multiple project sites. You will assist in ensuring regulatory compliance, company policy adherence, and consistent application of safe work practices in the field. You will provide hands-on support to site teams by conducting inspections and observations, assisting with incident reporting and investigations, and supporting training initiatives. Serving as a key link between the HSE Manager and site leadership, you will help foster a strong safety culture and ensure HSE expectations are clearly understood and consistently applied across all active sites.

As a Construction Safety Officer your key accountabilities will involve:

• Assisting in the coordination and implementation of the company's HSE Program.
• Overseeing HSE performance of workers and trade partners.
• Working closely with Superintendents to maintain compliance.
• Developing site-specific safety plans, procedures, exposure control plans, hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Conducting site-specific orientations for all new site workers and visitors as required.
• Facilitating and documenting site inspections and implementing corrective action.
• Proactively identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures.
• Reviewing trade partner documentation for accuracy and providing feedback to personnel.
• Conducting safety and toolbox talks as required.
• Implementing and assisting overseeing the company's Injury Management Program and providing first aid as required.
• Assisting with all other administrative duties related to health and safety.
• Updating and monitoring Procore to ensure hazard assessments, inspections, toolbox talks etc. are completed where required.
• Supporting the coordination and scheduling of training, hearing tests, and other related activities.

As a Construction Safety Officer your experience and qualifications will include:

• Experience overseeing health and safety on a construction site.
• Intermediate First Aid / OFA 2 Certification.
• Solid knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards.
• Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO)
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification is an asset.
