Manager, Software Engineering

We have an opportunity for a Manager, Engineering to join our Threat Data & Insights team in Burnaby, BC reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering. In this technical, hands-on leadership role, you will guide a team of engineers working on the Threat Data pipeline, building APIs, developing threat reports, and ensuring scalable, high-quality solutions. You will also oversee feature development, defect resolution, and release management, while fostering collaboration, learning, and growth within the team.

Be a Contributor — What You'll Do 

  • Provide technical direction to a team of developers and leads
  • Design and build APIs for the Threat Data pipeline and reporting systems
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions from concept to release
  • Drive all phases of development, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and release
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers while monitoring daily tasks and initiatives
  • Manage customer issues, escalations, and SLA commitments
  • Partner with cross-functional Product and Engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices
  • Work with technologies including Golang, Kafka, Spark, and CubeJS, with Angular as a good-to-have skill

Be Prepared — What You Bring 

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years of experience managing teams
  • Experience in microservices architecture, high-volume data services, and distributed systems
  • Solid programming experience with Golang; Python and Spark are a plus
  • Knowledge of data pipelines and streaming technologies like Kafka and Spark
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Angular is a plus 
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud environments, including AWS and GCP
  • Good understanding of DNS, networking, and security concepts
  • Experience in Unix/Linux environments and agile development practices
  • Proven track record of shipping high-quality software
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering; master's degree preferred
  • Desireable: Prior experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and automation using interfaces like SSE, gNMI, gRPC, SNMP, REST, NETCONF, etc.

Six Months:  Own and drive multiple modules in the Threat Data pipeline and manage a medium-sized engineering team.

One Year:  Own and drive a significant portion of the Threat Data & Insights platform and lead a large, distributed team across geographies.
