Overview

The Assembler role is responsible for assembling hydrogen components, performing quality checks, and completing end-of-line testing to ensure products meet required standards. The position focuses on supporting daily production activities, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and contributing to efficient manufacturing operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assemble components
  • Conduct end of line testing of components
  • Package assemblies into shipping cartons
  • Conduct quality inspections on components when necessary
  • Other duties as required to support the team

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental , and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
  • Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
  • Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in the assembly process.
  • Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics considered a strong asset.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft products and ERP systems considered an asset.
  • Experience with inspecting parts considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Use various hand tools, including torque wrenches and small presses.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, torquing fasteners, and visually inspecting and measuring components.
  • Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
  • Occasionally perform office-related tasks, including computer use, requiring finger dexterity for keyboard and calculator operation.
  • Move throughout the building to interact with team members and support production activities.
