Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Engineering Intern based in our Edmonton, AB, Canada office.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform a variety of tasks in support of construction activities
  • Field work involving travel, shift work, weekend work, and long hours
  • Remote work as required
  • Construction and Site Activities
  • Construction supervision and inspections; including nuclear densometer testing and synthetic liner inspections
  • Coordinate with contractor for required testing and quality assurance and quality control inspections
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
  • Provide daily construction reports via written and verbal communication means
  • Measure and track quantities
  • Calculate grades, volumes, distances, etc.
  • Support project scheduling and progress tracking
  • Technical and Design Support
  • Assist with preparation of drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Review plans and shop drawings for compliance with project standards
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design and construction issues
  • Write and compile construction reports
  • Project Management and Analysis
  • Assist in cost estimation and budget tracking
  • Participate in project meetings and document action items
  • Perform data input and analysis
  • Professional Conduct
  • Work with and maintain positive relationships with clients and contractors
  • Deliver communications, including verbal and written, in a timely, accurate and professional manner
  • Carry out all duties in a safe and responsible manner

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the master's degree are eligible to apply for this position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work in remote locations, travel, and perform shift/weekend work as required
  • Experience with Civil3D, surveying, nuclear densometer testing, and soils testing
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and QA/QC standards
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid Drivers License
