Position: Senior Project Manager

Employment Type: Contract (24 Months)

Compensation Details:

  • Project Manager 17: Salaries typically range from $84,698 to $112,931 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.
  • Project Manager 18: Salaries typically range from $96,557 to $128,743 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)

  • This role is preferably performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa. However, we will also consider candidates based in any of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver.

Team Overview:

The position of Senior Project Manager will report to the Manager, Project Management Office within EDC's Enterprise Strategy Enablement team and will support the implementation of EDC's Core Business Transformation initiative in partnership with the Initiative Leads and core enablement team.

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize one or more cross-functional workstreams ranging in complexity which contribute to achieving the strategy of the enterprise. This includes supporting initiative sponsors and leads in strategy development, problem solving and building-out the governance for initiatives, planning for and acquiring resources (including subject matter experts, external consultants, vendors, etc.) and coordinating the efforts of team members and resources to deliver project outcomes according to plan and expectations.

To be successful in this role, the individual will need a blend of project management skills, technical understanding, and preferably previous experience and knowledge of EDC's core business. The role will require collaboration with both the business and IT groups to ensure that the objectives and workstreams align with corporate strategy, risks are mitigated, defined outcomes are achieved, and benefits are realized.

What you will be doing:

  • Project Management: Supporting the Business Lead(s) to prioritize and achieve project outcomes, communicate progress, manage and mitigate risk, log decisions and rationale, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment. Guide the delivery team and related stakeholders to achieve quarterly and annual outcomes. Coordinate cross-functional work and manage stakeholder interaction.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with key stakeholders, including subject matter expert teams, IT groups and possibly external vendor/system integrators. Ensure overall project health, including risk management, invoice validation, timesheet processing, and steering committee preparation.
  • Resource Management: Planning and co-ordination with project resources, proactively manage project costs within Planview, provide forecasts, and present variances with narratives at review points.
  • Planning and Execution: Ability to develop detailed project plans, manage timelines and ensure project milestones are met. Ensuring activities are identified, organized, and resourced to meet project objectives. Comfort with both predictive and agile ways of working using different toolsets
  • Risk Management: Identify, manage, assess, escalate and assist with mitigation of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints. Develop and implement solutions as needed.
  • Communication: Consolidate and align information for key stakeholders, ensuring accurate and relevant updates.

This role is ideal for a seasoned project manager looking to lead strategic priorities for EDC and help drive organizational success.

  • Plan for quarterly targets and update plans to align with actual work states.
  • Connect regularly with initiative leads for updates and consolidate work progress.
  • Facilitate planning and/or working sessions with cross-functional groups.
  • Manage project review processes and provide stakeholders with key recommendations.
  • Implement innovation processes to ensure continuous improvements.
  • Provide documentation and training for successful transition to business as usual.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in projectmanagement. Previous experience working on projects / initiatives within EDC's core business would be an added advantage.
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, problem-solving skills, advanced written and verbal communication, and proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Planview Suite, Mural, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams).
  • Knowledge: Functionally strong in both predictive and waterfall project delivery.
