Position(s): Journeyman Powerline Technicians & Apprentice Powerline Technicians

Shift Schedule: Rotation – 20/7

Location: Gillam, Manitoba

Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently looking for experienced Journeyman and Apprentice Powerline Technicians –Transmission (fulltime-permanent) to join our team. This is a field-based role that will require the successful candidate(s) to travel to the remote camp job site in Gillam, Manitoba. This project is anticipated for completion in April 2026.

The Journeyman/Apprentice Powerline Technician will be work under the direction of the Foreman assisting with construction in the construction and maintenance of power systems, and replaces or repairs defective power lines, sub-stations and accessories. The successful candidate(s) will have a strong understanding of transmission construction systems and possess the knowledge, skillset and tools required to work on transmission powerline construction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks
• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair high and low voltage transmission electrical grid and maintain cables making part of power transmission systems
• Troubleshoot and repair overhead transmission lines and maintain interior, exterior, and overhead transmission systems
• Transport materials, install electrical transmission systems, perform repair work, as required
• Assist in the construction, maintenance and removal of overhead power lines and equipment
• Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations and implement safety policies as necessary
• Assisting with continuous improvement projects and other operational tasks, as required

What We Are Looking For:

• Journeyman Powerline Technician Trade Certificate or a current Apprenticeship Card, is required
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in the powerline trade if a Journeyman, is required
• Implode ticket, an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License, is required. Class 1 or Class 3 preferred
• Strong knowledge of Transmission construction systems, strongly preferred
• English proficiency with the ability to read, comprehend, and execute written work plans, blueprints, and writing schematics
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
• Able and willing to work at various heights and climb various structures and perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments inclusive of heavy lifting
• Able and willing to accommodate frequent overtime hours and weekend hours when required
• Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract
