Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the compounding of medications, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication administration, with experience in a hospital setting being a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities :

1. Data Capturing & Entry:

  • Accurately enter prescription and patient information into the pharmacy system.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records for compounded medications.

2. Compounding Responsibilities:

  • Non-Sterile Compounding: Prepare various types of non-sterile compounds, including but not limited to:
  • Creams, ointments, and gels
  • Suspensions and solutions
  • Capsules and suppositories
  • Sterile Compounding (hazardous & non-hazardous): Prepare sterile medications in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

3. Inventory & Stock Maintenance:

  • Ensure all batched items are well-stocked and available for dispensing.
  • Monitor and report any shortages or discrepancies in inventory levels.

4. Formula Management & Quality Control:

  • Build and verify formulas using PK and Kroll software.
  • Conduct final product checks to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to pharmaceutical standards.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and compounding.
  • Proficiency in PK and Kroll software (training will be provided).
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and safety protocols.
  • Regulated Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
