Lumenus is currently seeking an energetic highly qualified candidate to fulfill the role of full time Manager, Intensive Services (Don Mills and Sheppard area). This is a fixed term 13-month contract. As a Manager of Intensive Services, you will provide leadership to a Live in, 24 hour 7 day a week program. The Live in Treatment programs serves 6 adults with a dual diagnosis (developmental disability along with socio-emotional and/or mental health challenges). The program focuses on assessing the client's needs and helping them to develop their communication, social, life and self-regulation/coping skills while they reside in a collaborative living environment. The program also works closely with caregivers, offering caregiver-geared psychotherapy, psychoeducation and skills transfer.

The manager of the program provides leadership and supervision to the program employees, and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The manager is outcome driven and has oversight of the program to ensure the program meets or exceed benchmarks related to quality, efficiency and effectiveness. As a member of the leadership team the manager actively supports and promotes the shared Lumenus vision.

The manager must be able to support an anti-oppressive perspective/frame work (AOP), when working with and supporting employees. The ideal candidate demonstrates self-reflection in their interactions with their team and service users that allows for the capacity to be an advocate and to seek equitable solutions to problems.

Demonstrated knowledge of evidence based mental health and behaviour interventions, particularly the practical application of skill building interventions in a group based congregate care setting is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fully support and enable Lumenus strategic directions and operationalize goals on a program level
  • Manages the structure of the Live in setting, meeting and exceeding all licensing and quality requirements
  • Recruits for, supervises and evaluates a team of Live in, Intensive Therapists (typically Child and Youth Workers/Counsellors, Developmental Service Workers, Behaviour Technicians and Social Service workers) to ensure the delivery of a high quality and safe congregate 24/7 treatment program.

  • Training and coaching of team members to maintain a cohesive team of employees to support service users in the program.

  • Strong skills in applying therapeutic interventions safely and effectively to neuro-atypical adults with significant emotional and behaviour adjustment challenges in live in setting.
  • Support employees/teams in the development and understanding of the clinical issues, formulation, interventions and evaluation with respect to service delivery for service users and their families.
  • Supports outcome driven and accountable service built upon current clinical evidence
  • Ensures the accuracy of information gathering and the timely and effective collection and use of the data toward constant program improvement.
  • Uses an agency electronic client information system for client records and notes, data entry and collection for aggregate reports and ensures the effective use of the system by the team.
  • Use an electronic human resources information tool to ensure records of attendance, absences and employee certification and training are accurately entered and up to date
  • Ensures the clinical integrity of programming consistent with evidence informed literature
  • Works collaboratively with program consultants to support the implementation of clinical recommendations
  • Provides leadership during the team meetings and plan of care meetings with transdisciplinary team
  • Liaises and collaborates with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates admissions and discharges into and out of the setting to support a successful placement
  • Works closely with service users caregivers and primary supports toward service user achievement of treatment goals.
  • Ensure that Serious Occurrence Reporting and other administrative processes are followed and that required reports are submitted within established timeframes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. in a related field or Community College Diploma (i.e. C.Y.C., S.S.W., D.S.W.);
  • Experience managing dysregulated behaviour, including physical intervention for acting out behaviour;
  • Experience in the implementation of service plans that provide client-centered specific and attainable goals supported by interventions based on clinical evidence.
  • Experience and sensitivity to working in a group care setting with a diverse service user population
  • Experience implementing support plans to address significant service user risk with aggressive and/or self harm behavior, and/or elopement behaviour
  • Experience developing teams that work from an Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive framework;
  • Related supervisory experience;
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong clinical skills and an ability to apply systems theory and thinking in providing direction to employees;
  • Demonstrated competency in cross-cultural and racial work, and ability to support front-line employees;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing;
  • Proficient in working with MS Office Suite and client record software.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process;
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred;
  • Fluency in French or other second language relevant to community is advantageous.
