Job Overview - Journeyman Automotive Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in automotive repair, ensuring that vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. This role requires proficiency with hand tools and power tools, as well as the ability to read and interpret schematics. The Automotive Technician will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service while diagnosing and resolving vehicle issues.

Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various types of vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to assemble, disassemble, and repair automotive components.
  • Interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues within vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
  • Communicate with customers regarding vehicle status, repairs needed, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow in the shop environment.
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.

Experience

  • Proven experience as an Automotive Technician
  • Journey person preferred but 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Apprentice considered.
  • Familiarity with dealership environments is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Solid understanding of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver's license is required; additional certifications in automotive repair are advantageous.

Pay: $38.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)
