Job Description
About This Role
We are currently seeking a Cloud Data Engineer - BI Integration Specialist - to join our expanding team of Engineers. The ecosystem is comprised of applications, microservices, vendor tools etc. responsible for the storage, enrichment, and distribution of data across teams leveraging complex Batch and Stream Processing along with Enterprise Integration patterns. The objective is to provide business users with a self-service BI platform for analytics and reporting all done in real-time or near real-time and well-integrated with the data platform.
The role will include the following major responsibilities:
Design and document BI system architecture with a focus on data governance concerns such as data lineage, cataloging, access policies, data privacy etc. as well as scalability and performance – including, but not limited to, compute scaling, query tuning and storage optimization.
Work with Business Analysts / Systems Analysts, Enterprise Architects, other technology Developers / Solution Designers to ensure that the system design meets the application requirements and performance goals.
Define standards for data visualization, semantic modeling, dashboarding and data access.
Contribute to data and BI roadmaps, evaluating emerging tools and practices.
Provide code maintenance and support during testing cycles and post-production deployment and participate in reviewing peer code.
Perform unit and integration testing for conformance to technology architecture standards and adherence to design specifications.
Support business enquiries and business activities through execution of small enhancements and break / fix implementations.
Job Requirements

6-8 years of experience
The candidate should have a strong Computer Science (or equivalent) background with a good understanding of Design Patterns, Enterprise Integration Patterns, Programming Paradigms and Architecture.
Multi-year (2+) experience with cloud platform(s). Azure and GCP preferred.
Experience with BI tools and BI tool integration (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Sigma etc.) in conjunction with Data Platforms (Databricks, Snowflake etc.)
Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Workflows, Unity Catalog)
Familiarity with Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse etc.
Proficient in Java (8/11/17) and Java application frameworks (Spring Boot, Quarkus). Other JVM-based languages (e.g., Scala) are a plus.
Experience with streaming (e.g., Kafka) and stream processing engines such as Apache Flink/Apache Spark
Experience working with Relational and/or NoSQL databases (MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, Riak, Cassandra, etc.) is desirable.
Familiarity with tools for managing software delivery and prioritization, e.g., Confluence, JIRA, Trello, BitBucket, etc.
