Business Analyst

Adastra is seeking a senior-level technical Business Analyst to support data-driven projects involving reporting, dashboards, and analytics. In this role, you will work closely with project teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives and delivery of actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have experience gathering and translating business requirements into technical solutions, with hands-on experience in Power BI and familiarity with AWS-based data systems. 

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid 2-Day) 

Status: Contract 

Responsibilities:

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for reporting and analytics projects
• Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to capture goals, KPIs, and reporting needs
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications for BI dashboards and data solutions
• Collaborate with BI developers and data architects to ensure timely and accurate delivery of reports and dashboards
• Support the development and validation of Power BI dashboards, KPIs, and visualizations
• Assist in analyzing data from AWS-hosted platforms (e.g., Redshift, S3) to inform decision-making
• Monitor project progress and help identify potential gaps, risks, or roadblocks
• Perform data validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and support documentation efforts
• Create user guides, process flows, and other materials to support business users
• Ensure alignment with data governance, compliance, and organizational standards

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in analytics or data-focused projects
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, including interpreting dashboards and datasets
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environments (Redshift, Glue, S3)
• Strong understanding of metrics, KPIs, and reporting for business operations
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with both business and technical stakeholders
• Proficient in requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field

Nice to Have:

• Experience with BI or data platforms in customer service contexts
• Knowledge of SQL or ability to query data independently
• Experience in Agile environments and using tools like Jira or Confluence
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance in analytics projects
