CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: Casual / On Call Community Support Workerfor all shifts within different support settings. Please note that there are no guaranteed hours for this position, scheduling is done in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advocate for persons served needs, rights, desires and choices
  • Promote independence and provide opportunities for people to learn and practice new skills, assisting persons served in developing and promoting their gifts, talents, qualities and abilities
  • Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing documentation of their person-centered plans
  • Support persons served with their personal care needs and assist in maintaining a standard which will ensure that they are seen positively by their friends, family and community
  • Support persons served to develop and maintain fulfilling relationships with family, friends and neighbors
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all professionals involved in the care of the persons served

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A certificate in Community Support, or related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Current Community Care 1st Aid and CPR
  • Current TB test
  • Medical Assessment from physician certifying ability to safely perform duties required
  • Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Adults
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
  • CPI training or experience working with behavioral challenges, an asset
  • A commitment to ensuring that the Human Rights of persons served are protected
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team and an independent setting, with an emphasis on self-initiative, patience, leading by example, maturity and tact
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the local community's resources and services provided, an asset

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $25.95-$29.76 per hour
