This unique role combines the responsibilities of a Health Care Aide and a Child & Youth Worker, providing personalized care, emotional support, and skill-building assistance across different age groups.

The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and passionate about enhancing quality of life, promoting independence, and maintaining dignity for individuals at all stages of life.

Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care & Daily Living Support

  • Assist seniors and youth with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
  • Provide mobility assistance, transfers, and physical support as required
  • Offer medication reminders as directed by care plans or healthcare professionals

Youth & Developmental Support

  • Support children and youth with developmental disabilities, including autism, with daily routines and transitions
  • Implement individualized care and support plans focused on communication, emotional regulation, and life skills
  • Use communication supports such as visual schedules, AAC devices, and PECS

Companionship & Emotional Support

  • Build respectful, trusting relationships with seniors and youth
  • Provide companionship, encouragement, and reassurance
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities such as games, reading, creative play, and community outings

Household & Community Support

  • Assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, and errands
  • Support participation in community activities, appointments, and recreational programs

Collaboration, Monitoring & Documentation

  • Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and professionals
  • Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral well-being
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports

Safety, Respect & Dignity

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful environment
  • Uphold confidentiality, client rights, and professional boundaries
  • Support each individual's preferences, routines, and goals

Qualifications & Experience

  • Health Care Aide, Personal Support Worker, Child & Youth Care, Disability Support, or related education/experience
  • Experience working with seniors and/or children with developmental disabilities is an asset
  • Knowledge of dementia care, autism support, and communication tools (AAC, PECS, visuals) is an asset
  • Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Physically able to assist with lifting, transfers, and mobility support
  • Current First Aid/CPR and Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred)

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
