TH offers a wide range of acute and post-acute care including emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical, rehabilitation and complex/transitional care and palliative care services. In addition to the above, the Hospital offers laboratory, diagnostic imaging and mental health and addictions programs.

Job ListingsThe Personal Support Worker is responsible for the daily care of medically and clinically stable patients as determined by the nurse for appropriateness of each client situation. They are also responsible for strictly adhering to procedures and policies and communicating pertinent information to appropriate individuals. Personal Support Workers are to function in their defined role while demonstrating organizational skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Rate of Pay: $ $30.806
Hours of Work:
Combination of 4 hour / 8 hour / 12 hour shifts. Applicant must have availability to work days, evenings, and nights, weekdays and weekends.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Graduate from an approved Personal Support Worker Program that meets the appropriate standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
- BCLS certificate required
- Must possess the following:
o Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
o Excellent work record, including attendance
o Commitment to ensure personal safety and the safety of fellow works, patients, volunteers, and visitors
Assets:
- Oral and written proficiency in both official languages
- Recent healthcare, more specifically Hospital, experience
- Completion of the Gerontology course
Responsibilities:
- Providing care and assistance to patients with routine activities of living. This will occur following an assessment by the registered healthcare professional, of each client's situation and condition, the activity and associated risk, and the environmental supports
- Following the established plan of care, observing and reporting any substantial findings and/or changes in patient behavior to the appropriate registered member of the healthcare team
- Assisting or providing total personal care such as dressing, toileting, bathing, grooming and perineal care
- Assisting with meals
- Assisting with mobilization, which includes ambulation, positioning and transferring including the use of mechanical lifts
- Assisting with social, therapeutic and recreational activities
- Assisting nursing staffs by answering call bells
- Taking and recording temperature, pulse and respirations (TPR)
- Charting on all care provided
- Changing oxygen equipment weekly, as directed by the nurse
- Updating transfer codes weekly at bedside and in Meditech Expanse
- Changing foley to leg bags (and back again at h.s., as indicated)
- Emptying foley and recording amounts
- Perform other duties as assigned
