Import Coordinator/Merchandising Assistant

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Import Coordinator / Merchandise Assistant to support our Buying team in planning and executing a profitable home goods business.

This position blends merchandising support with import and logistics coordination, ensuring a smooth flow of products from both overseas and North American vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all clerical and administrative tasks within the Buying Department.
  • Create, update, and manage purchase orders from start to finish, maintaining regular communication with vendors and buyers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate and verify import documentation (invoices, packing lists, shipping schedules) to support customs clearance and compliance.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders and logistics partners to track inbound shipments and align delivery timelines with business requirements.
  • Compile and analyze sales and inventory reports to monitor sell-through and identify performance trends.
  • Communicate with buyers regarding strong and weak styles to support business decisions and potential reorders.
  • Manage and organize product samples, including tracking, movement, and shipment coordination.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in merchandising, logistics, or supply chain support (retail or home goods preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with AS400, import coordination, or customs documentation is an asset.
  • Experience in graphic design (Photoshop and/or Illustrator) is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of the merchandising and buying process.
