School District 52 is seeking a dedicated Wilwilaaysk (Family) Wellness Worker for 0.6 fte to join our Safe and Inclusive Schools Team. This role provides direct services and consultation to support Indigenous students and their families, as well as students on Alternative Learning plans. The successful candidate will respond to crisis events, conduct assessments, and collaborate with community agencies to ensure pathways to care. Additionally, this position works closely with the Board's Indigenous Education team and support networks to promote culturally responsive practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain professional relationships aligned with ethics and Wap Sigatgyet partnerships.
  • Assess strengths, resources, and challenges of individuals, families, and communities to support goal achievement.
  • Advocate for equitable access to resources and services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and case management
  • Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and community partners to deliver integrated support.
  • Promote social and economic justice and challenge patterns of oppression and discrimination.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to confidentiality and informed consent standards.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of Indigenous experiences and Canada's Truth and Reconciliation commitments.
  • Knowledge of local First Nations cultures, history, and the impacts of colonialism.
  • Ability to establish cross-cultural relationships and understanding.
  • Grade 12 and a diploma or degree in a related field.
  • Experience in social work, health, or community services.
  • Strong knowledge of community-based mental health services.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
