Job Details

The Geoscience Researcher will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and supporting advanced algorithms to improve subsurface imaging. The role emphasizes reservoir characterization workflows that integrate geological and seismic data through rock physics. This position involves hands-on research, continuous technology development, and cross-functional collaboration to support both internal teams and client-facing efforts

Key Responsibilities

Research & Algorithm Development

  • Develop, test, and validate innovative algorithms using synthetic and real datasets.

  • Enhance integration between seismic inversion, rock physics, and geomechanics workflows.

  • Stay informed of emerging technologies relevant to reservoir characterization and incorporate them into research activities.

Collaboration & Technical Support

  • Promote new technologies through internal presentations, documentation, and user support.

  • Contribute to scientific publications and represent Viridien at industry conferences.

  • Support technical initiatives and project needs across Viridien's Geoscience business.

Quality & Innovation

  • Adhere to established standards and best practices.

  • Ensure all technical work meets internal peer-review requirements and exceeds client expectations.

  • Participate in developing new workflows and methodologies that enhance Viridien's technical capabilities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C++ and software development best practices.

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms or libraries.

  • Working knowledge of geoscience disciplines (geology, geophysics, geomechanics).

  • Python experience is an asset.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage deadlines and balance multiple project requirements.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and collaborate within a team environment.

  • Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies.

Additional Information
  • This is a full-time position.

  • Travel may be required for extended periods.
