We are looking for a
Senior Solution Architect
for a
2-month contract position, with possible extensions
in
Calgary, Alberta.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
This position is a hybrid position primarily on-site in downtown Calgary with 5 days per month remote
Role Description
The Senior Solution Architect (SA) is directly responsible for designing a technical solution for a project or product, typically spanning multiple technology domains in a multitier architecture. The Senior Solution Architect, oversees, coordinates and develops technology designs to ensure alignment across the defined product architecture and the various technical architectural disciplines within the Company. Develops appropriate product designs that enable the enterprise to deliver best-in-class services to clients, partners and employees. The senior SA may run more than one multiple complex projects in parallel. Engages with varying and diverse internal and external stakeholders to effectively manage and communicate technical risks ensuring project alignment for successful strategic outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Designs and delivers technical solutions that align to business requirements while ensuring alignment to the existing enterprise environment, the Company overall systems strategy and any applicable IT standards
- Responsible for designing the essential solution building blocks that make up the technical solution
- Responsible for analyzing non-functional requirements and ensuring that the solution will meet them.
- Engages the project team and business subject matter experts to define project deliverables, estimates, and schedule; and perform delivery planning for their assigned projects
- Facilitates and communicates the solution design to project leadership, enterprise architects, developers and other stakeholders while using technical or non-technical materials, verbal presentations and workshops to ensure that all requirements are taken into account and factored into the solution.
- Provide and document detailed specifications for proposed solutions
- Guide teams on best practices for application engineering, integration of data and services, component re-use, technical standards and principles
- Ensure solutions are compliance with security policies, standards and practices
- Participate in technical boards and areas practice standards to ensure there is alignment with any change management
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive development experience
- 5+ years leading complex enterprise level projects
- Experience in software engineering and design architecture in an n-tier environment
- Thorough demonstrated experience delivering their solutions under an agile software delivery methodology and processes
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to effectively align solutions to Business needs and processes while considering enterprise and organizational outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication as well as relationship building skills with broad stakeholders of varying degree of technical background.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership others.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with several of the following technologies; .Net, Informatica, Tibco, , GIS, DCM, SQL Server, and Azure cloud service offerings.
- Strong ability to align software development team velocity to effectively size and bucket Business stories into a defined software deployment cycle.
- Oil and Gas related work experience would be considered an asset.
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties
