Position Overview:

We are seeking 1 dedicated Behavior Interventionist(s) (BI) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to implement behavior intervention plans, promote skill development, and create a supportive environment for optimal growth. The program goals are individualized for each student and strong play skills are required This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with children and eager to gain experience in the fields of education, psychology, or behaviour therapy.

This learner is a very active 4 year old so you must be able to keep up physically and be aware of any potentially safety concerns that may arise. Must be patient, kind and able to have fun. She loves ice-cream, pizza and singing songs/dancing together. Knowledge in TouchChat is an asset and must be willing to learn and use throughout sessions. Sessions will be Tuesdays 11-1 and Fridays 10-11:30. Meeting which are mandatory will be every other Thursday at 11:15-1:15. Session schedule may be able to be adapted by 15 minutes for the right candidate.

This position requires at least a one year commitment.

Hours:

  • This position requires at least a one year commitment.
  • This position involves 3-6 hours per week, with more hours available with growth in the role
  • Ideal candidate will want more hours long-term

Responsibilities:

  • Work on program goals as outlined by the BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) and/or intern.
  • Support skill development in areas such as communication, social skills, emotional regulation, academic readiness, and play.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment to promote social skills and communication development.
  • Attend mandatory bi-weekly or monthly team meetings. (Thursdays 11:15-1:15pm)
  • Take initiative and proactively identify opportunities to collaborate with the BCBA and other team members to ensure program consistency.
  • Take accurate data and complete graphing every session.
  • Communicate progress to the BCBA and/or intern regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Be able to provide a criminal record check.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual.
  • Able to have fun and work on play-based goals.
  • Strong communication ability.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • ABA experience or experience working with children with developmental disabilities is an asset but not required.
  • The AFU (funding source) requires candidates to be at least 19 years old.
  • Ability to drive to sessions and reliable access to a vehicle

Working Conditions:

  • Competitive pay with an hourly rate commensurate with experience.
  • Option for additional hours after completion of training.
  • Part-time hours between 8 am and 6 pm (some exceptions).
  • Payment provided through online AFU Portal and is contract based.
  • On-going training and support
