About the Position

Provide leadership and direction in the day-to-day management of the accounting function of the organization. Act as the bridge between the accounting department and the WCPG executive team.

  • Manage a team of 5 or more accounting staff
  • Lead the project accounting and corporation accounting functions
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the WCPG group
  • Assist the VP of Finance with ensuring compliance with WCPG reporting requirements, including CMHC, lender, and bonding
  • Lead software implementation and integration – Procore x SAGE ERP, ADP
  • Manage the preparation of tax returns and tax working papers
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and conduct weekly meetings to present results
  • Actively be involved in the collection and tracking of promissory notes and security deposits with municipalities and NHW
  • Assist the VP of Finance in preparing tax planning deliverables, including 3-year forecasts and tax charts with loss carryforward analysis
  • Manage the preparation of biweekly payroll
  • Manage GST and ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Review key project accounting deliverables including cost at completion reports, loan draw reports, and project control sheets
  • Proactively identify financial risks on construction projects and take steps to resolve
  • Manage and track WCPG's fleet
  • Manage the monthly AP and AR processes, including progress billings, review of outgoing payments, approvals, credit applications, and Mastercard reconciliation
  • Manage intercompany debts and proactively eliminate intercompany balances where appropriate
  • Ensure that the WCPG corporate group and WCPG projects have appropriate insurance coverage
  • Assist VP of Finance in the design and implementation of policies, practices, procedures, and systems which result in efficient operations and good internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, as well as statutory and tax filings
  • Handle special projects, responsibilities, and other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance or the Chief Operating Officer

About You

  • You are a CPA with strong accounting and financial management expertise
  • Experienced in leading and developing teams while overseeing both corporate and project accounting functions
  • Skilled in preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax filings, payroll, and cash flow forecasts
  • Confident working with ERP and accounting software, including implementing and integrating new systems
  • Proactive in identifying financial risks and creating solutions to mitigate them
  • Detail-oriented and thorough in ensuring compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements, and tax regulations
  • Collaborative in bridging accounting teams with executive leadership to support organizational goals
  • Strong communicator who thrives in dynamic environments and contributes to positive company culture
  • Passionate about streamlining processes, improving efficiency, and strengthening financial operations
