FNPCI INITIATIVE

The FNPCI is part of the province's primary care strategy, which is integrating team-based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered with the creation of primary care networks in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities.

In order to meet the health and wellness needs of First Nations people, it is very important that primary care be culturally informed where First Nations ways of knowing and being are woven into services. One of the FNPCI's main objectives is to develop new First Nations Primary Health Care Centres in rural and urban locations across the province. The aim is for clients to feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected, and heard when they access care services at one of these centres.

About The Centre
The All Nations Healing House provides culturally safe and trauma-informed primary health care for unattached First Nations and Indigenous people and their families. The Centre serves the needs of the First Nation and Indigenous communities in the Williams Lake area and the 15 communities of the Secwépemc, Tsilhqot'in, and Dakelh Dené Nations. The Centre operates Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours.

Indigenous ways of knowing and being are the foundation of the All Nations Healing House. They include Elders, Traditional Healers and other Indigenous care providers as core members of a the health-care team who work in close collaboration with family doctors, nurse practitioners and other providers to provide holistic health and wellness services. Services offered include full scope primary care provisions by family physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses as well as Traditional Wellness, Mental Health, Wellness Navigation. In coming years, we also intend to expand services with guidance from the Nations we serve.

About The Role
The Family Physician will be the most responsible provider for a client panel, and is expected to collaborate within a team-based environment that supports the practice of Western and Traditional Wellness approaches to client health and wellness.
