Responsible for the overall operation of the department including sales, profitability, productivity and its general appearance. Manages department employees, deals with customers and with sales representatives from various companies.

Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma plus
  • Two (2) years' experience as a Department Clerk and/or previous Retail Management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of produce products
  • Sound understanding of inventory control and gross profit projections.
  • Good understanding of Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills including attention to detail, time management and ability to multi-task
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to hire, train and coach staff
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for performing front end procedures such as closing duties, cash pick ups, till audits, till overrides, price checks, etc.
  • Manages department staff by hiring, scheduling, providing work direction, reviewing performance and providing feedback and conducting disciplinary procedures.
  • Performs administrative duties including payroll procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues
  • Maintains operating policies and procedures by reviewing, updating, and enforcing compliance with legislated requirements (e.g., Food Safety and Health & Safety), and by training staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.65 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
