Part-time Educator Position

Overview

TLC preschool is a non-profit educational program for children aged 3-5 years old, committed to a partnership where school, family and community act in collaboration to enrich the lives of children and their families.

TLC provides a place for children to grow and learn through play, while encouraging the development of basic skills and school routines. Engaging in creative activities allows the children to explore their world, as well as interact with others, as we bridge the gap between home and elementary school.

TLC is looking for an enthusiastic part-time educator for the school year, who would be interested in an opportunity to work alongside a small team of educators in a small class setting of up to 16 students.

With a blend of various approaches to learning, such as Montessori and learning through play, TLC preschool presents a unique philosophy of early childhood education and welcomes your creativity in the classroom.

• Salary: Based on Qualifications and experience in accordance with the pay scale set forth by the Ministère de la Famille.

Languages: English and French

Education & Experience Required:

• Qualified educators with DEC or AEC or individuals with significant experience in a pre-school setting.
• At least (2) years of experience in the field.
• Strong organizational skills to manage classroom activities effectively.
• Creativity & leadership abilities to guide students in their learning journey.
• Proficiency in time management skills to ensure smooth daily operations within the classroom.

Work site environment

• Work must be completed at the physical location, in the TLC Classroom.
• Classroom located within a building shared with a separate elementary and high school. While within the same building, TLC preschool has access to its own entrance, cubby room, and bathroom facilities.
• Outdoor Spaces: Accessible front yard (green space), Back of school allows for access to public park and playground, green space and a splash pad.

Responsibilities

Tasks

• The tasks below are some of the unique educator's roles and responsibilities at TLC preschool:
• Assistant (Part-Time) Teacher: To assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum, working alongside the lead teacher.
• TLC offers a unique opportunity for children to hone their academic skills, such as writing, cutting, letter recognition and pre-math skills, through dedicated activities aimed at this goal.
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, teaching early reading and writing skills, language skills, gross and fine motor skills, the creation of opportunities for imaginative play (TLC has a large inventory of toys, books and learning stations/materials), and field trips.
• TLC preschool requires at least one teacher to attend monthly board meetings to discuss and decide on the ongoing day-to-day operations, fundraising activities, school policies, financial information, and any other decisions pertaining to the operation of the preschool.
• Bi-weekly supervision of classroom cleaning, after school hours, to be decided amongst the educators.
• Execute on-going administrative tasks including, but not limited to registration, newsletters to parents, schedules and calendars, banking deposits and bill payments and purchasing of classroom materials.
