Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of Summit Intensive Community Treatment Services (ICTS), the Occupational Therapist II (OT) provides consultation to professionals and/or treatment and assessment of children and adolescents (ages 0-18) with complex mental health issues and associated developmental, cognitive and behavioural disorders. Service is provided in the context of family-centered care and may include liaison and collaboration with relevant community agencies, including schools. Responsibilities may include participation in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development and program evaluation as required, student education, and other related duties as required. Appropriate documentation and statistical data collection is required.
Description:
As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and Recovery Alberta policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Additional Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required. A master's degree in Occupational Therapy or another relevant field is preferred. Active registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Brain Story Certification Preferred. Collaborative Problem Solving Training preferred. Suicide Risk Assessment training. Experience working in a multidisciplinary mental health team. Experience working with children and adolescents with mental illness.
