Job Description
As the Director of Product Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. This strategic and visionary position involves defining the product vision, aligning strategies with business goals, and driving innovation.

You'll lead a talented product team, collaborate with senior leadership, partner with Sales and Marketing and ensure successful product launches.

What You Are Responsible For
Product Strategy and Vision:

  • Develop a clear and compelling product vision that aligns with our overall mission and customer needs, as well as meets our revenue targets and commercial goals.
  • Craft a strategic roadmap that outlines how the product will evolve over time, driving our markets and ensuring our long term success.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize features, enhancements, and improvements to deliver our mission while achieving revenue growth and retention targets.

Build And Lead a High-Performing Product Team

  • Recruit, mentor, develop and manage a product team with the required skills to deliver product expectations.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, creativity, collaboration and success within the team.
  • Empower team members to take ownership of their respective product areas.

Stakeholder Management And Alignment

  • Work closely with the senior leadership, and other stakeholders to align product strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Present product updates, roadmaps, and strategic plans.
  • Advocate for resources and support necessary to achieve product goals.

Drive Product Innovation

  • Follow industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs and understand how they may influence or affect the product roadmap and vision.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the market.
  • Encourage experimentation and creative thinking within the prod

Ensure Successful Product Launches

  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to bring new products and features to the market.
  • Define launch plans, including pricing, and positioning.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on go-to-market strategies.
  • Monitor product performance post-launch and iterate based on user feedback.

Setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) And Objectives

  • Define, measure, and track the relevant KPIs and OKRs used to measure success.

Driving Product Discovery And Research

  • Set the stage for effective product development by driving product discovery, market research, and competitor analysis.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to understand market dynamics.

Domain Expertise
What you bring to the team:

  • Understanding market dynamics, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Extensive Product Management experience with proven track record of successfully managing complex products and driving growth.
  • 5+ years of leading product development teams and delivering impactful products.

Technical Acumen

  • In-depth knowledge of software development practices, technologies, and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
  • Proficiency in technical concepts related to the product, such as APIs and databases, cloud computing.
  • High level knowledge of various programming languages and their use cases.
  • A comprehensive grasp of the products architecture, how different components interact, scalability considerations and technical dependencies.
  • Confidently contribute to technical discussions with development teams, architects, and engineers.
  • An understanding of best practices for securing products and handling user data.
  • Proficient using JIRA, Confluence and Microsoft 365 product suite

Business Acumen

  • Strong business sense and the ability to align product decisions with overall company strategy.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, pricing strategies, revenue projections, and ROI calculations.
  • Ability to analyze market dynamics. How markets operate, market trends, customer behavior, and competitive forces.
  • Ability to measure the success of the products using metrics such as revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and market share.

Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to inspire and guide the team through motivating, mentoring, and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to assess talent gaps and plan for future talent needs to support product vision.
  • Strong coaching skills. You empower the team to own their own development and support the growth of your team in terms of their career and their capability.

Communication And Collaboration

  • Excellent communication skills to convey the product vision, strategy, and priorities to cross-functional teams, executives, and stakeholders.
  • Active listening to understand others' perspectives and addressing concerns effectively.
  • Ability to work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and other teams. You are strong at building strong relationships and fostering collaboration.
  • You can handle conflicts diplomatically and are strong at finding win-win solutions while maintaining team cohesion.

Problem-Solving And Decision-Making

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks, deadlines, and competing demands.
  • Proficient is using data analytics to drive decisions by identifying patterns and extracting actionable insights from complex data sets.

  • Adaptability and resilience to manage changes in product direction, market conditions, and organizational priorities.
  • The ability to lead teams through transitions, inspire confidence, and motivate them to embrace change while maintaining focus on the product vision.
  • Ability to think strategically about how changes impact the product, organization, and customers. Must be able to consider long-term implications and align changes with overall business goals.

Certifications And Training

  • Previous experience as a Product Manager, Business Analyst, or Product Owner in a software company.

Bonus Points If You Also Have

  • Maritime Industry Knowledge.
  • Certifications that demonstrate best practices for Product Management, Business Analysis, Scrum, Agile, Project Management are an asset.
