Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Part-time Custodian to join our team at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 52 in Peterborough. This role is vital in ensuring our facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all community events and gatherings.

Schedule: 15hrs per week early mornings approximately start at 5-7am Friday to Tuesday depending on scheduled functions. Additional days and hours may be required to cover other custodian's absence or as the need arises to ensure the facility is ready for occupancy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning duties to maintain cleanliness of all areas within the facility.
  • Conduct routine commercial cleaning tasks to ensure hygiene standards.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, hallways, and all common areas
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust floors and surfaces which includes tables and chairs
  • Empty trash and recycle bins in all areas
  • Refill supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc.)
  • Clean patio, empty ashtrays, sweep and remove snow and salt patio and walkways when necessary
  • Perform light maintenance and report needed repairs and supplies to Office staff
  • Report any repairs or safety issues promptly.
  • Support event setup and cleanup when required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in cleaning, commercial cleaning preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards related to facility maintenance.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in a community or hospitality setting is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
  • Background check may be required
