Job Profile: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Reports to: General Modality Manager

Hours: 1.0FTE, 37.5 hours per week, permanent full-time

Clinic Shifts - 7:00am to 3:00pm, 7:30am to 11:30am or 7:30am to 3:30pm

Central Hot Lab Shift – 3:30am to 7:00am

Location: Rotating Position (Meadowlark, Castledowns, Millwoods or Unity Square)

Position Summary

You will be an integral part of our journeys, ensuring that we can continue to provide reliable, accurate and compassionate services to our patients, referring physicians and our employees.

You will be working as part of a team that prides itself on providing precise high quality Nuclear Medicine examinations. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision and direction, which means you will need to be a self-starter and confident in your imaging. We expect you to deliver safe and efficient Nuclear Medicine services while minimizing patient discomfort to the best of your ability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing quality control procedures on hot lab equipment and gamma cameras.
  • Ordering daily isotopes and other department supplies.
  • Drawing, recording and injecting patient doses.
  • Patient interviews and recording history.
  • Setting up IV's and ECG leads.
  • Cardiac stress testing, MIBIs or regular stresses.
  • Drawing up cardiac stressing agents and antidotes.
  • Supervising patient recovery after cardiac stress testing.
  • Scanning for a variety of Nuclear Medicine studies.
  • Completing paperwork, collating previous studies and ordering X-rays as required to accompany scans.
  • General housekeeping duties.
  • Communicating with Nuclear Medicine Manager for vacation coverage, sick days and appointments.
  • Manufacturing, QC and shipping of radiopharmaceuticals out of the Insight Radiopharmacy.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures and practices.
  • Must have complete knowledge of the images required for each exam by the Radiologists.
  • Knowledge of technical parameters for any examination requested.
  • Knowledge of exam storage and retrieval systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members and administration.
  • Ability to make and implement decisions.
  • Motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to perform and think clearly in any situation including high stressful or emotional situations.
  • Clinical competency in medical nuclear medicine.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to excellence in patient care, quality control and adherence to diagnostic imaging standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • CAMRT/ACMDTT designation in good standing.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
