Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to support, maintain and enhance core platform frameworks at CLIENT The platform engineer will work closely and autonomously with senior and junior IT resources and the resources of other CLIENT lines of business to ensure these platforms are reliable, up to date and capable of meeting the business needs. The Senior Platform Engineer will work closely with the architecture teams when making decisions around the platforms supported by the Core Services team.

Accountabilities:

  • Build and Deploy reliable, resilient and high performing high complexity platforms. Contribute to the overall design of the platform ensuring it is optimized for high availability and disaster recovery. Create the build and configurations for the platform as well as assist and produce automations for deployments. Transition the builds to higher environments to the appropriate build teams.Research product capabilities and best practices
  • Test resiliency of the platform and design
  • Test and validate the functionality of the platform in collaboration with project teams.
  • Flag potential issues/problem areas, document issues and determine whether or not to proceed with the solution
  • Tune platform to achieve optimum performance levels and document the procedures for upper environments
  • Work with the automation engineers to create automation process for deployment, configuration and tuning of the environment
  • Keep up to date on the platforms and ensure they are up to date and secure. Answer any relevant questions around the platforms and attend meetings around these platforms or their capabilities. Build and Maintain Platform Roadmaps ensuring that the implementation, development and support teams understand what is coming in the product and the scheduled release dates for patches or enhancements. Provide guidance for technical outages to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Provide tier 3 level support as required.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps
  • Run training sessions to other team members as well as other teams as required
  • Provide input and guidance to the Architecture team during the Analysis & Design Phase of the platform.
  • Manage the security patches and ensure adherence to the CLIENT requirements
  • Monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance
  • Create and maintain support procedures for the support teams to follow in the event of an issue
  • Coach and mentor other platform engineers as well as review supported platforms to ensure they continue to meet their requirements.
  • Work with platform engineers to help develop their capabilities and skills.
  • Hold review and learning sessions with other team members as necessary (e.g., share information).
  • Create and maintain all required Platform documentation in accordance with CLIENT documentation policies, procedures and standards to ensure platform team members can maintain and support platforms as required
  • Liaise with subject matter experts in IT to define specifications.
  • Maintain documentation around Platform Currency and Design
  • Maintain documentation including platform workflow and error recovery procedure.
  • Provide build and configuration documentation as required for implementation team deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience:
    3-5 years of Middleware Experience.
  • 3-5 years of Technology Infrastructure experience.
  • 6-9 years experience with Automation Platforms (Gitlab, Ansible Tower, UiPath, Artifactory)
  • 6-9 years experience with Web Application design and support
  • 3-5 years experience with Hadoop.
  • 6-9 years experience with Informatica products including BDM, Axon, PowerCenter and MDM
  • 3-5 Years of Private/Public Cloud Technology Experience
  • 3-5 Years development experience (bash, powershell, python, perl, ansible, git)
  • 3-5 years experience with Identity management solutions (WSO2, ADFS)
  • Skills:
    Understanding of both relational and non-relational databases
  • Proven ability to deliver development projects, piloting new technology following an 'agile' methodology
  • Ability to gain the confidence of the clients, staff and Management, and be viewed, within his/her discipline, as a leader based on credentials of past experience
  • Demonstrated ability to mature and implement best practices processes for several major technology projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge in creating CI/CD Pipelines and how they work
  • Knowledge of Information security standards – PCI, SOC1/2
  • Knowledge of data analytics and data science.
  • Knowledge of how SIEM tools work and what they can do (Splunk)
  • Expertise in Windows and Linux Operating System
