On CPA Ontario's Student Services Program
CPA Ontario is in search of a Director, Data Analytics & Insights to lead the strategic design, development, delivery and storytelling of data-driven solutions that empower decision-making across CPA Ontario's Student Services business unit.
The Director will be responsible for guiding the Student Services business unit leadership to gain a strong business acumen, and leverage that to transform data into clear, actionable visual insights, to enable business decisions necessary to lead short- and long-term objectives, strategies, tactics, and business outcomes. The Director will promote the strategic use of data as a key business enabler, identifying and unlocking opportunities. This role will include hands-on development and support of operational and analytical data solutions, such as datasets and data models, excel models, visualizations (KPIs/Dashboards), and reports, to support performance optimization, budgeting and strategic planning.
As CPA Ontario transitions to the CPA Professional Program, the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the data analytics and insights framework that supports this transformation, including building new operational and analytical data solutions.

Promote the strategic use of data as a key business enabler, identifying and unlocking opportunities to optimize student intake, throughput, and CPA membership.
Champion data literacy and enable a culture of data-driven decision-making across the business unit, ensuring stakeholders understand and leverage data effectively.
Build strong relationships with the Student Services leaders to understand business processes, data needs, and system usage.
Connect business processes to data, demonstrating deep knowledge of business processes and translating them into actionable data insights that support operational excellence.
Inform and influence direction with insights and storytelling using data solutions, delivering high-impact insights to executives and senior leadership.
Champion centralized tools and technologies to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Lead requirements gathering and documentation to ensure clarity and alignment.
Lead development and support of operational and analytical data solutions, including dataset design, Excel models, dashboards, KPI's, and reports to enable performance optimization, budgeting and strategic planning.
Manage large datasets, identify crucial metrics behind customer behaviours, and guide strategic decisions.
Build self-service solutions for Student Services stakeholders.
Identify and resolve data quality issues, recommend remediation, and collaborate with business units to implement solutions.
Acting as Student Services Data Steward, including liaising with the data governance office.
Take a leadership role in data-related projects.
You are the ideal candidate if:
Education and Experience:
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Data Science, Analytics, Mathematics, or related field, with a minimum of 8 years' post-qualification experience. Experience with higher education data is an asset.
You have 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data science, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
You have 5+ years of experience with SQL; Python experience is an asset.
You have 5+ years of experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI preferred; Tableau acceptable).
You are familiar with Microsoft Azure data ecosystem (Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Server, data warehousing, ETL) and knowledgeable of Salesforce CRM.
Experience with Higher Education data experience is an asset.
