Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Occupational Health Nurse at the Advanced Structures site in Oakville, Ontario, you will deliver primary occupational health services to promote the health and safety of employees, the workplace and the organization.
This position is working Onsite at Oakville Facility - Oakville - ON
What You Will Do:
- Manage employee health care programs, wellness initiatives and injury management oversight in keeping with nursing standards, best practice principles, and compliance requirements:
- Initiate first aid, documentation, reports/forms, follow-up, communication, and necessary tasks related to effective workplace injury case management.
- Build an alliance with the employee on workplace related leaves to optimize opportunities for return to work and recovery of functional abilities.
- Work in partnership with the various stakeholders involved in injury management, including the manager and human resources.
- Identify appropriate accommodation and facilitate early and safe return to work plans.
- Monitor and coordinate RTW and evaluate outcome/effectiveness.
- Manage Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims and a Return to Work/Accommodation program.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess and provide primary health care, education, counseling, and referrals to internal/external services as deemed necessary (e.g., occupational physician, EFAP, physio).
- Manage employee health screening and periodical medical examinations/surveillance based on the identification of hazards/risks as determined by the EH&S/Trainer:
- Interpret and communicate results and coordinate/support appropriate follow-up and collaborate with the occupational physician and hygienist as deemed necessary.
- Facilitate referrals to external providers as applicable.
- Communicate surveillance results, maintaining the confidentiality of employee PHI to workplace stakeholders when necessary.
- Provide guidance to employees regarding safe work practices to reduce exposure and promote health and well-being.
- Participate in committees or projects as required, linking to the promotion of employee wellness/safety strategies
- Adhere to confidentiality best practice principles and guidelines as per company and provincial privacy policies.
- Coordinate visits with the Oakville medical team, including the site physician and physician assistant.
- Manage health and safety related programs such as ergonomics and industrial hygiene.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications We Require
- A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior Nursing/Occupational Health Nursing experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Licensed Nurse
- Current certification with Canadian Nurses Association in Occupational Health Nursing
- Minimum 5 years working in an industrial occupational health setting
- Competencies in all aspects of nursing practice, including knowledge of anatomy and risk management.
- The successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
Qualifications We Prefer
- Strong workplace knowledge of chemicals relevant to our industry and related control programs
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Completed training and working practice performing qualitative and quantitative fit tests as well as spirometry administration.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software applications
- Adaptability, including time management of multiple tasks with varying degrees of importance and deadlines
- Forward-thinking with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision as a resilient and proactive team player
- Great propensity for crisis management, adaptation and flexibility (able to respond rapidly to changing situations) to ensure continuity of support
