Description of Duties and Responsibilities

The Shift Supervisor reports directly to the Program Manager and provides on shift leadership in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Centre.

• Interacts with the clients in a caring, non-judgmental manner
• Supervises and trains team members in their functional duties
• Reports to the Senior Manager on problems arising with team functioning and occurrences of a serious nature involving clients
• Responsible for collaborating with the nurse regarding medical needs of clients
• Responsible for ensuring the lock-up of client money and valuables
• Ensues that records on status of detox clients are complete and up-to-date
• Coordinates with the Addictions Worker to ensure that requests for treatment are addressed
• Supervises disinfectant, clean-up and hygienic procedures and assists with implementation of these procedures as required
• Participates in general staff meetings and Supervisor's meetings
• Compiles daily statistics
• Provides written evaluation of staff members as required
• Conducts shift exchange meetings with oncoming staff
• Records daily attendance of team members
• Delegates responsibilities to Support Worker II's
• Any other related task or responsibility assigned by the Program Manager

Position Requirements

• Willing to work within the team concept of leadership
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of addictions
• Demonstrated level of literacy and communication skills sufficient for job responsibilities
• Diploma or Degree in the human services field preferred
• Current and Clear Police with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Current First Aid, CPR, AED Certification

Hours of Work: Days, 4 on, 4 off rotation.
