Position Summary
Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure & Cybersecurity, the
Senior IT Security
Manager
is a highly experienced and strategic job that leads enterprise-wide cybersecurity initiatives that span multiple departments and impact long-term organizational resilience. This role is responsible for designing secure systems and architectures, driving compliance with regulatory frameworks, and leading incident response and risk mitigation efforts. Operating with high autonomy, you translate strategic security objectives into actionable plans, ensuring alignment across departments and functions. You will provide deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to safeguarding digital assets and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture & Engineering
- Design and implement secure systems, applications, and network architectures that align with enterprise security strategies.
- Integrate advanced cybersecurity features into existing infrastructure and develop architectural artifacts to support long-term planning.
- Provide engineering recommendations and resolve integration and testing issues across departments.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Lead cross-departmental risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PIPEDA, PCI DSS, CIS Controls, NIST, and other applicable privacy and security regulations.
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures tailored to healthcare and multi-site operations.
Security Operation & Incident Response
- Oversee enterprise-wide security monitoring using SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and other advanced tools.
- Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to contain and remediate security breaches.
- Conduct forensic investigations and post-incident reviews to strengthen organizational resilience and improve response processes.
Technology Optimization & Governance
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize security technologies including encryption, identity and access management, mobile device security, and endpoint protection.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure configurations across cloud platforms, workstations, and enterprise applications.
- Drive automation of security processes and controls using scripting and orchestration tools.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead high-impact security projects and initiatives that span multiple departments and functions.
- Influence cross-functional teams and executive leadership through subject matter expertise and strategic communication.
- Administer cybersecurity awareness programs, including phishing simulations and targeted training campaigns.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, including leadership of cross-functional security initiatives.
- Experience in healthcare, dental, or multi-site environments is an asset.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, network and endpoint security, intrusion detection/prevention, and secure system design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and cloud-based security solutions.
- Experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, and forensic analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of encryption, data loss prevention, and identity access management.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
- CompTIA Security+
Interpersonal & Leadership Skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-departmental security initiatives and influence strategic decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
