General Machinist

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. 40 hours per week

Wage: $25.00-$39.00 per hour - starting rate commensurate with experience, with full benefits (life, health, dental, RRSP) after probation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be able to set up and operate various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
• Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments
• Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines.
• Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• CNC experience is an asset.
• Minimum three years of practical experience mandatory.
• Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand the specifications of the output
• Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
• Select appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and position or load material for a job
• Monitor the machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
• Determine and program the size of batches and the speed of the machine
• Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
• Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in using and programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
• Knowledge of metal properties and other material
• Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items

Pay: $25.00-$45.00 per hour
