North Rocky View Community Links Society (Community Links) is a non-profit registered charity which serves residents of all ages in the North Rocky View Region including Airdrie, Beiseker, Crossfield, Irricana, and the surrounding areas of North Rocky View County since 1982. The main office is in Airdrie, Alberta.

This position serves as both the public face and operational driver of Community Links—shaping strategy, stewarding sustainable funding, building a learning culture, and partnering across the region to deliver meaningful impact.

The opportunity
The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for advancing Community Links' vision, mission, and strategic plan. The role ensures a resilient funding model, sound governance, and operational excellence across programs and services. The Executive Director inspires staff and volunteers, represents Community Links externally, and positions the organization for long-term sustainability as demographics and community needs evolve.
Key responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
· Champion the organization's vision as spokesperson and ambassador.
· Advise and support the Board of Directors while ensuring effective governance and executive reporting.
· Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth.
Strategy, Programs & Risk
· Drive implementation of the strategic plan and align programs with mission, values, and community priorities.
· Oversee program measurement, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
· Anticipate regional trends and manage organizational risks related to people, property, finances, and reputation; ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
People & Culture
· Build and support a high-performing staff team through effective recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
· Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures that reflect ethical, inclusive, and trauma-informed practices.
Finance & Fund Development
· Lead budget development and cash-flow management in collaboration with the Finance Manager; oversee accounting and annual audits.
· Provide transparent financial reporting to the Board.
· Partner with the Board, fund development staff, funders, and donors to diversify and sustain revenue streams.
· Ensure compliance with nonprofit legislation and employment standards in Alberta.
Community & Partnerships
· Strengthen relationships with community groups, funders, elected officials, and peer organizations.
· Identify emerging needs and build collaborative solutions that create positive change across North Rocky View Region.
Qualifications
· Degree in Human Services, Business Administration, Human Resources, related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum of five years in managerial leadership, ideally within the nonprofit or voluntary sector.
· Proven track record working with and supporting a governance Board.
· Demonstrated strengths in strategic execution, change management, communications, stakeholder relations, and problem-solving.
· Familiarity with policy development and strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation.
· High integrity, sound judgment under pressure, and capacity to inspire, motivate, and build trust.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Conditions of employment
· Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends; based primarily in Airdrie with travel across North Rocky View Region (valid driver's license and reliable insured vehicle required).
· Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) and Children's Services Intervention Check.
· Current or willing to have the Standard First Aid, Level C CPR, and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
· Comfort working in high-stress settings while following safety protocols; occasional lifting or moving of program materials.
