Kitchen Help

The Kitchen Helper supports daily kitchen and retail operations by preparing ingredients, stocking and merchandising retail products, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with customer service. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow written instructions exactly.
Core ResponsibilitiesFood Prep & Production
- Chop, cut, and prepare vegetables and ingredients to spec
- Demonstrate safe, consistent knife skills
- Follow written recipes and prep instructions exactly
- Assist cooks as directed during production
Stocking, Inventory & Retail
- Stock retail fridges, shelves, and displays
- Rotate product using FIFO (first in, first out)
- Label products accurately (dates, names, allergens as required)
- Assist with basic inventory counts and restocking
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Wash dishes, pots, utensils, and equipment
- Maintain clean and organized prep areas
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and cleaning checklists
- Take out garbage, recycling, and compost as required
Equipment Use
- Safely use basic kitchen equipment (knives, food processors, mixers, dishwashers, etc.)
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns immediately
Customer Interaction & POS
- Interact politely and professionally with customers when needed
- Answer basic questions or direct customers to a supervisor
- Use the Point of Sale (POS) system for simple transactions when assigned
- Minimum 1 year kitchen experience
- Must demonstrate basic knife skills
- Ability to follow written instructions and recipes without shortcuts
- Strong work ethic with a willing, eager, and positive attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting kitchen supplies
- Food safety awareness (FoodSafe preferred or willingness to obtain)
