Reporting to the Manager Network Services, this advanced role serves as the overall technical and operational support accountability for Qu Data Centers (QDC) Core Network Services and customer Managed Network Services at multiple data centers nationwide. This role engages in senior level business and technology discussions related to data center network and service requiring skills in design, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting complex incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a technical lead, supporting members of the Network Services team
- Collaborate with Network and Security Architect to eliminate risk within data center network
- Collaborate with Network and Security Architect in evolution of network and service operation
- Ensure security policy is reflected and adhered to in data center network and service operation
- Engage in business and technology discussion related to data centers infrastructure operation
- Participate in Network Service Change, Incident and Problem Management escalation activities
- Lead initiatives pertaining to ongoing maintenance and upkeep of existing managed operation
- Execute and follow through service changes and acceptance testing
- Manage vendors' and service providers' SLAs and performance
- 3+ years of experience with data center network engineering
- 5+ years of experience with data center network administration
- Perform proactive maintenance for internal and external customer networks
- Take ownership of complex service issue questions and maintenances to lead their resolution
- Provide technical training/coaching to Support and Operations teams for ITIL based IP networking
- Participate in internal projects and work with the Project Management Office on delivery and timelines of internet projects within defined Service Order Intervals for new orders
- Build rapport and a close working relationship with customers, acting as a trusted advisor for the customer during the implementation and support of their Managed Services
- Exposure to technology vendor relationship management
- Experience with data center infrastructure and facilities management and technology products
- Post-graduate degree with courses in computer engineering, computer science, system engineering, software architecture or equivalent experience is preferred
- Professional certification in data center network operations is preferred
- Advanced understanding of data center network and services infrastructure and technology within
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Positive attitude with a desire to constantly improve
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function in a high-pressure operational role with ongoing on-call support responsibilities
- Prior exposure to various network technologies Cisco and Fortinet with deep understanding of protocols (TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, MPLS, routing, switching, firewalls) is mandatory
- Familiarity with load-balancing concepts and platforms is preferred
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems is preferred
- Awareness of cloud and network virtualization concepts and operations e.g. VmWare is preferred
