About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Reservoir Engineering, the Staff Reservoir Engineer will unlock value from our resource base through competitor analysis and technical reviews, and influence optimal well designs. This role will develop accurate production forecasts at the well and field level, and implement reservoir operating strategies, including potential for enhanced oil recovery (EOR).

What you'll do:

  • Translate strategy and priorities into development plans and actions to maximize the value of Conventional Heavy Oil assets by working with asset team members (Reservoir, Geoscience, Production, Field Operations, Mineral Land and Well Delivery).
  • Provide reservoir engineering guidance to evaluation and design of Conventional Heavy Oil projects and long-range planning (production and reserves forecasting, etc.)
  • Leverage reservoir simulation and/or empirical modeling to inform well and field design optimizations and improvements.
  • Participate in project lookbacks and competitor analysis to improve well costs, design and performance.
  • Technical assurance of critical reservoir engineering deliverables including analog analysis, type curve generation, well design optimization and risk management to ensure development economics sufficiently capture and balance scope, cost, value, risk and uncertainty.
  • Ensure forecasts are reflective of current performance and develop economic evaluations in support of land sales and business development opportunities.

Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) accredited with APEGA/APEGS.
  • Minimum 12 years of reservoir engineering experience, ideally with Cold Heavy Oil assets, and experience in economic evaluation.
  • Proficiency in AccuMap OR GeoScout, PVR, SCADA, Power BI, Value Navigator OR Mosaic.
  • Experience in reservoir simulation and designing and implementing water/polymer flood operations would be considered an asset.
