Crossing Guard

Overview
As a Crossing Guard you will assist in the safe movement of all pedestrians including school children crossing roadways at designated points by observing gaps in traffic, assuming right-of-way and indicating when it is safe to cross.

Responsibilities

• Pedestrian Assistance: Help all pedestrians, including children, safely cross roadways and intersections by stopping vehicular traffic at designated points.
• Traffic Monitoring: Watch for gaps in traffic and walk children across the roadway or intersection while holding a "stop" sign visible to approaching vehicles.
• Safety Guidance: Advise children on safe behavior.
• Reporting: Report issues or incidents to the supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education.

Experience
Up to 1 month of related experience such as customer service or working/volunteering with others.

Additional Requirements

• Hours of work (may vary): Monday to Friday, approximately 1 hour shift between 8:00am to 9:30am and approximately 1 hour shift between 2:45pm to 4:00pm
• Access to reliable transportation and be able to travel to various locations across the city.
• Willing to undergo a medical check to ensure that the potential candidate is fit for duty as a condition of employment.
• Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment.
• Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
