Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Wastewater Treatment System Designer is primarily responsible for project management of commercial MBBR wastewater treatment designs from initial consultation to installation and operation.

• Develop MBBR treatment system processes.
• Communicate with clients to determine treatment system characteristics and performance requirements.
• Prepare system proposals including process schematics and budgets.
• Prepare quotes based on third-party designs and tenders.
• Calculate system settings including pump rates and timers.
• Provide clarification to regulatory and permitting agencies.
• Prepare operation and maintenance manuals.
• Provide troubleshooting and guidance for systems in operation.
• Work within our ERP software to manage and update opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, process, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or in Environmental Science.
• Successful completion of at least one (1) wastewater treatment course.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in designing residential, commercial, and industrial wastewater treatment systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for drafting and design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Knowledge of Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) design is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and codes, including the Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part 8 and the sewage design guidelines of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, is an asset.
• Understanding of plumbing, piping, manufacturing, and construction practices.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain well organized work processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and other departments.
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Location and Specifics

• Full time day shift, Monday to Friday.
• Travel is sometimes required to attend sites or events.
• Hybrid work location from our head office in Guelph ON.
