About The Role
We are seeking a Cost Controller (Junior, Intermediate, or Senior) to join our clients Engineering Services and Capital Planning teams in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador. The successful candidate will support the execution of capital projects across the province and contribute to the development, monitoring, and reporting of project financials.
This is a two-year contract role (January 2026 December 2027), with standard working hours of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am4:30pm. Work will be performed primarily from the clients head office in St. Johns. Periodic travel to project sites throughout Newfoundland and Labrador may be required and will be covered according to contract provisions.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, cost control experience, and a solid understanding of accounting and financial management within a project-based environmentpreferably related to capital or infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop finance tables for multiple project portfolios for inclusion in internal budget applications and reporting packages.
- Facilitate the initiation, administration, and closeout of approved capital projects.
- Review and reconcile Front-End Engineering (FEE) costs and associated financial documentation.
- Evaluate Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for appropriate cost allocations and accuracy.
- Support least-cost and investment evaluation analysis in partnership with project and financial teams.
- Prepare and maintain capital project cost reports, including variance analysis and financial explanations.
- Create and manage work orders to support consistent and accurate cost tracking.
- Complete project forecasts, capital budget change orders, contract change orders, and cost flow documentation.
- Prepare monthly capital accruals and ensure proper financial alignment with project activities.
- Review, attest, and code vendor invoices; support progress billing processes.
- Prepare project close-out documentation, including asset-related forms, interest cut-off documents, and other required financial submissions.
- Provide additional ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in cost control, ideally within a capital project or engineering environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of accounting standards and cost-tracking tools.
- Experience in the energy, utility, or infrastructure sector is considered an asset, but not required.
Additional Details
You may be required to work in industrial or field environments on occasion. All required personal protective equipment and site-specific training will be provided when necessary.
