Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to provide high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including home, community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting clients with their daily needs, promoting independence, and enhancing their quality of life. This position offers an opportunity to advance in your career.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support patients with mobility using equipment such as Safety Transfers
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation
- Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and progress for care records
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping and infection control practices
- Support patients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease through specialized memory care techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement individualized care plans and ensure compliance with regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
- Follow all safety protocols, including CPR and First Aid procedures
Skills
- Proven experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments
- Knowledge of patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Ability to assist with ADLs using proper techniques for heavy lifting or resident transfers
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to provide empathetic patient-centered care
- Ability to work independently while following detailed care plans and protocols
- CPR certification; additional certifications such as First Aid are preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends as needed
