Strum Consulting, is presently expanding our Geotechnical Engineering Division and has an opening in our Halifax, NS & St. John's, NL offices for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team.

Role Description

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will support the Geotechnical Division by applying engineering principles to both field and office work, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and client interaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Strum's health and safety program and ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Project manage geotechnical investigations, including borehole and test pits, sampling, and in-situ testing.
  • Prepare proposals and detailed geotechnical reports with recommendations for foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, and earthworks.
  • Manage, supervise and support junior staff in the field, office and laboratory.
  • Participate in business development events and client liaison.
  • Attend and participate in weekly internal meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of projects within the schedule.
  • Support existing teams while demonstrating ability to work independently and as part of a larger close-knit team.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer, licensed or eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia or Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador.
  • 10 years of applicable experience.
  • Geotechnical consulting background is an asset.
  • Willingness to learn and work as a member of a team comprised of surveyors, engineers, technicians, environmental scientists, and biologists.
  • Strong attention to detail, motivation, and excellent communications skills.
  • Possess professional demeanour and communicate with excellent verbal and written skills in English.
