About the position
The Executive Director at Footprints to Recovery NJ is responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of the treatment center. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the facility operates efficiently while maintaining high standards of client care. The Executive Director will collaborate closely with the facility leadership team to drive key performance indicators and financial measures, focusing on optimizing facility performance through improved systems and processes. A significant aspect of this position involves overseeing daily financial responsibilities and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The Executive Director will also play a crucial role in staffing the facility with qualified department leaders, including the Clinical Director, Nursing Director, and others, to ensure delivery of best-in-class substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. In addition to operational management, the Facility Executive Director is tasked with fostering a culture of accountability and high performance among the leadership team. This includes direct supervision, mentorship, and the implementation of training programs to enhance staff competencies. The Executive Director will also be responsible for preparing the annual budget and strategic business plan, ensuring that the facility meets its financial and operational goals. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high patient satisfaction scores and compliance with state and federal requirements, as well as leading efforts to improve the quality of care and patient safety. The Executive Director will engage in public relations efforts and participate in professional organizations to promote the facility's services and growth. This position demands flexibility, as the Executive Director may need to provide leadership at other locations and be available beyond normal business hours. Overall, the Executive Director is a key leader in the mission to provide compassionate and innovative care to adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational management of the treatment center.
- Assist with daily financial responsibilities and partner with the facility leadership team to drive key performance indicators and financial measures.
- Maintain high quality client care as a primary concern.
- Staff the facility with high quality department leaders and provide direct supervision of the facility leadership team.
- Motivate facility leadership through metrics and develop a culture of accountability.
- Participate in mentorship with leadership towards overall strategic goals.
- Prepare the annual budget and strategic business plan.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation standards and requirements.
- Implement staff in-services and training programs.
- Lead efforts to train and develop director-level staff in budgeting and position control.
- Develop and maintain staff engagement and retention plans to decrease industry annual attrition.
- Handle employee-related concerns and complaints in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
- Ensure day-to-day operations of the facility service lines with a focus on safe staffing levels and effective patient treatment.
- Organize and maintain an Administrator On - Call rotation for 24/7 management oversight.
- Lead daily meetings and weekly leadership meetings, support leadership in monthly operational report meetings.
- Establish and maintain high patient satisfaction scores via internal measurement systems and external facility reviews.
- Monitor and improve quality of care, patient safety, and patient/referral satisfaction.
- Demonstrate high fiscal responsibility with ownership over facility expenses and staffing levels.
- Prepare and present the annual budget and strategic operating business plan.
- Maximize Payor Mix, Average Daily Revenue, and Length of Stay goal attainment.
Requirements
- Master's degree in healthcare/business administration preferred.
- Three to five years of proven success at department level management in Behavioral Healthcare preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of components to deliver high quality client care.
- Ability to enact action plans/strategies to achieve financial and operational goals.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of government regulations, accrediting bodies, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage and supervise various positions and relate well to diverse populations.
- Ability to anticipate and react calmly in crises and emergency situations.
- CPR Certification and state-required certifications as applicable.

- Experience in behavioral healthcare management.
- Familiarity with The Joint Commission standards.
- Skills in public relations and community engagement.
