Director, Platform Engineering

Infrastructure Ontario (IO), an Ontario crown corporation, provides a wide range of services to support the Ontario government's initiative to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and realty. Position Purpose
The Director, Platform Engineering will lead the strategic direction and delivery of IO's platform engineering capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, and cybersecurity standards. Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure, and resilient technology platforms that support IO's business operations and digital transformation initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Will provide leadership and oversight for overseeing the development and maintenance of the technological infrastructure and architecture within an organization
- Lead a team of engineers who design, build, and support scalable, reliable and secure platforms and systems required to deliver software products and services.
- Accountable for all platform vendor management, including achieving all operational metrics, meeting contractual SLAs, licensing, and contract management, managing governance, maintaining effective relationships, etc.
- Establish enterprise architectural standards, design patters, principles, and governance processes to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability of platforms
- Drive continuous improvement in platform reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency through innovation and best practices.
- Manage vendor relationships and service delivery for platform-related technologies and services.
- Develop and implement platform governance frameworks, standards, and documentation.
- Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives by providing platform expertise and strategic input.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies related to infrastructure and data security.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for platform engineering functions.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in leading platform engineering teams and delivering enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Strong knowledge of Data Platforms including Databricks
- Demonstrated ability to manage and evolve enterprise architecture
- Demonstrated ability to align technology strategies with business goals and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and service level agreements.

We offer a competitive salary range of
$128,000
to
$173,200
(
M3
level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
