About The Role
Autodesk is seeking a highly experienced Principal User Experience Designer to join its AEC Data team. This strategic role focuses on shaping scalable, cohesive data experiences across Autodesk's platform products, including Forma and other related solutions. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product managers, developers, content designers, and customers to create intuitive and efficient data management workflows. Your expertise will drive the transformation of how users interact with granular project data, enabling them to navigate complex tasks with confidence and ease.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data management principles, UX best practices, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the entire AEC project lifecycle. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of Autodesk's data platform and contribute to innovative solutions that enhance user productivity and insight generation.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional user experience design and customer research experience
  • 4+ years designing complex B2B/technical platform experiences
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Current portfolio demonstrating commercial UX project work
  • Familiarity with Autodesk products, BIM, and the AEC project lifecycle
  • Up-to-date expertise in human-centered design best practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas
  • Experience employing user testing methods and design critiques
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business, customer, and technical needs to support the overall experience design strategy
  • Create detailed artifacts such as wireframes, diagrams, task flows, storyboards, prototypes, and documentation to illustrate current states and proposed solutions
  • Lead and participate in customer research activities during planning and early design phases
  • Assess existing user experiences to identify opportunities for transformation and standardization
  • Engage with customers and development teams to validate designs and implement iterative improvements
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and researchers to define and deliver exceptional user experiences from concept through deployment
  • Facilitate complex workshops using innovative techniques to maximize stakeholder engagement and idea generation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate and enhance the ongoing impact of experience design initiatives
  • Drive the successful implementation of design specifications in collaboration with development teams
  • Apply design thinking methodologies to foster collaboration across organizational silos and solve complex challenges
  • Maintain familiarity with Autodesk's software suite to ensure compatibility and integration across products
