As a Mobile Crane Operator at Kiwi Newton Group, you'll play an essential role in safely lifting, moving, and positioning precast concrete, structural steel, and other building components that form the foundation of our construction and manufacturing projects. Working primarily within our Guelph operations and on-site installations, you'll ensure every lift is executed with precision, planning, and adherence to the highest safety standards. This position is ideal for a skilled, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented operator who takes pride in craftsmanship, teamwork, and the successful execution of complex lifts.

Position Details:

  • 41 Massey Rd, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, N1H 7M6
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (overtime and occasional Saturdays as required)
  • Full-time, year-round position
  • Travel to outdoor construction sites and manufacturing facilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate various size mobile and all terrain cranes to safely rig, hoist, and move structural steel, precast concrete, and other heavy components
  • Conduct pre-lift planning and coordination with site supervisors and rigging teams to ensure efficient, safe lift execution
  • Perform thorough pre-operation inspections, assembly, and disassembly of crane and rigging equipment
  • Calculate load weights, crane capacities, and lift radii to ensure proper setup and lifting configuration
  • Inspect and maintain all crane equipment, completing detailed logbooks and safety documentation
  • Identify and report any mechanical or operational issues promptly
  • Support general site duties, including rigging, material handling, and other related labour tasks as required
  • Follow all company, industry, and regulatory safety standards and procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4–5 years of experience operating a 100-ton mobile crane (or equivalent capacity)
  • Valid Mobile Crane Operator certification (required)
  • Proven ability to perform safe and precise lifts in varied job site conditions
  • Experience conducting crane setup, maintenance, and teardown
  • Valid AZ license (asset)
  • Strong understanding of load charts, rigging techniques, and crane safety protocols
  • Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, professional attitude
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and committed to workplace safety
  • Ability to provide own transportation to work sites
