How you'll make a difference: 

As a member of our maintenance team, you would play a key role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our facilities by carrying out preventative maintenance and performing minor renovations, repairs, replacements, and upgrades to building electrical systems.

Your responsibilities:

  • Effectively operates, maintains and repairs base building mechanical and electrical systems and equipment to ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable work environment that supports the delivery of WCB programs and services.

  • Performs comprehensive preventative maintenance to prevent premature equipment failure, avoid costly repairs, and minimize disruptions to essential building services and staff productivity.

  • Coordinates and oversees mechanical and electrical contractors performing building repairs and upgrades, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with WCB standards.

  • Monitors contractor performance during renovations and reconfigurations.

  • Commissions and troubleshoots systems to identify and resolve potential warranty issues.

  • Operates, maintains and repairs sensitive systems – including the Data Centre UPS, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and emergency generators – while providing technical guidance on code requirements, best practices and proper procedures.

Your experience and skills:

  • Alberta Journeyman Electrician Certificate is required.

  • Minimum of five years' experience in building operations, including building automation systems and maintenance of high-rise office towers.

  • Hands-on experience with UPS systems and data centre environmental controls.

  • Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes, as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Familiarity with safety and environmental requirements for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials.

  • Demonstrated project management and contract administration skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal abilities with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently and effectively is crucial to the success of the team.

  • Participation in a rotating on-call schedule outside of regular business hours (approximately six times per year) to address maintenance issues.

  • Valid Alberta driver's license.

Salary:  $59,648 to $93,180 per annum (Salary Grade 8 with a market supplement)

This position requires you to work in-person from our Edmonton downtown office. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
