As a senior leader within the facility, the Manager of Psychological Services also contributes to policy development, manages fee for service suppliers and human resources, and ensures compliance with legislation, ethical standards, and ministry directives. The role demands advanced expertise in psychological assessment and treatment, particularly in crisis intervention and behaviour management, along with the ability to navigate complex clinical and operational challenges. The Roy McMurtry Youth Centre (RMYC) is a secure custody facility dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of youth involved in the justice system. It operates under the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and provides a structured, therapeutic environment where young people receive comprehensive treatment and support. RMYC integrates trauma-informed practices across its programs, recognizing the complex needs and experiences of its residents. Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities

As the Psychological Services Manager you will:


• Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive psychological service programs within youth secure custody facilities, ensuring alignment with professional standards, facility needs, and ministry objectives.


• Oversee clinical intake and service delivery processes, ensuring coordination between psychological services and other departments to provide effective and streamlined care.


• Manage and provide professional supervision to an interdisciplinary treatment team, including performance evaluation, professional development, and adherence to clinical standards.


• Deliver individual and group psychological counselling and therapy, and provide consultation in areas such as crisis intervention, assessment, and behaviour management.


• Lead strategic planning initiatives, manage financial and human resources, and ensure compliance with legislation, ministry policies, and collective agreements.


• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contribute to policy development, and advocate for the ministry's position in various forums.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements


• Registered Psychologist in good standing in Ontario.

Leadership and Management


• Experience leading trauma-informed psychological services.


• Ability to coach, mentor, and foster an inclusive team culture.


• Strategic thinking to evaluate and improve programming.


• Knowledge of financial and human resource management.


• Strong decision-making and analytical skills.

Specialized Knowledge


• Expertise in psychological science and trauma-informed practices.


• Ability to assess individual cases and determine appropriate interventions.


• Experience with psychological research methods for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.


• Background in correctional or youth-focused psychological services.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills


• Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with youth, staff, and stakeholders.


• Skilled in providing consultation and presenting technical information clearly.


• Collaborative approach to improving interdepartmental programs and services.
