Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer in Training to support the delivery of complex Ports and Marine Terminals projects across British Columbia. The role offers hands-on experience contributing to all phases of project execution including planning and design while developing core structural engineering technical competencies pertaining to marine infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide structural EIT support to engineers on varying sized projects.
- Assist in reviewing drawings, drafting technical reports, memorandums and other technical documents.
- Conduct material quantity take-offs, analysis/calculations, hand sketches, CAD Drafting, and other EIT support tasks.
- Perform contract administration, coordination, contract development and other contract support tasks.
- Support Project Manager(s) / Director(s) in project delivery through initiation, planning, execution, monitor and control, and close-out activities and other PM support tasks.
- Participate and coordinate project team activities and interact effectively with Clients, Contractors, Engineers, Project Managers, and other consultants.
- Coordinate and participate in technical proposal writing and other business development activities.
- With guidance, assist with the preparation and distributions of high quality, accurate and timely documents such as: agendas, reports, minutes, communication logs, change management, and other required documentation.
- Some travel to project sites may be required from time to time.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project.
- Strong understanding of engineering design.
- Experience with structural analysis tools including SAP2000.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- General understanding of a project lifecycle including design and construction processes and requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience in Risk Management considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field.
- 1-3 minimum years of relevant work experience in a professional environment.
