Customs & Compliance Administrator– Cross-Border Reefer Transportation

We are a well-established cross-border refrigerated trucking company specializing in temperature-controlled freight between Canada and the United States. Our operations depend on precision, regulatory compliance, and seamless coordination with customers and government agencies. We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Customs & Compliance Administrator to support and oversee our import/export and customs processes.

Position Summary

The Customs & Compliance Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of import and export compliance related to cross-border refrigerated freight. This role ensures adherence to applicable customs regulations, licensing requirements, and record-keeping standards while supporting efficient freight movement and resolving complex regulatory issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the import and export process, ensuring full compliance with all applicable government laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
  • Oversee customs clearance activities, including the preparation and review of import/export documentation and coordination with customs brokers and government agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures, and policies related to customs documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain in-depth, current knowledge of customs rules, trade regulations, and international shipping requirements applicable to cross-border freight.
  • Oversee administrative functions such as record-keeping, reporting, and internal coordination to support compliant and efficient logistics operations.
  • Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant maintenance of shipping, import, and export records to meet audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve complex or escalated issues involving clients, customs officials, brokers, and shippers, expediting solutions to minimize delays.
  • Support internal teams with guidance on customs, compliance, and documentation requirements related to cross-border refrigerated transportation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in customs compliance, import/export operations, or international freight logistics.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. customs regulations, trade compliance, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, government agencies, and cross-border transportation providers.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive logistics environment.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation and record-management skills.
  • Experience in trucking, transportation, or refrigerated freight is considered an asset.
